The secret life of pets (2016)
By Paula Bermudez
The Secret Life of Pets is a very entertaining and excellent movie to watch with all the family. The plot shows how the life of pets is while their owners are not in the house. The movie is about the life of Matt, a house dog, who remains during the whole day waiting anxiously for his owner. One day the life of Matt changes because his owner decides to adopt another dog and this triggers a great adventure in which both dogs find a group of animals that have been abandoned and seek revenge.
Deadpool (2016)
By Wilman Guarín
After for a long time of watching super heroes in movies, finally the anti heroes arrive. These new protagonists show fresher and completely different stories. Deadpool is a great opportunity to show the stories of the anti heroes by Marvel where being good is not important. The movie starts with a complete idiot as protagonist. He is not a good person and he does not help anyone. Then, he gets sick and probably dies but decides to join an experiment that gives him superpowers. Finally, he lives but he is still an idiot.
The plot is very enjoyable although it is very conventional, it lacks originality because it is similar to The Penguins of Madagascar, this makes it predictable. The movie is great for the whole family because people feel identified with their pets’ life and what the pets do while they are alone in the house.
Enter the void (2009)
By Michael Moreno
“Enter the void” is one of the top movies with an existentialist plot of all times. The plot consists about a drug dealer that is reading the Tibetan book of the dead. One day in an exchange of DMT(a type of drug) he was dejected by the police, but before of this he had consumed DMT, and at the precise moment of dying, he was taken to a spiritual journey, due to the DMT. In that trip, he saw his life from beginning to end. This trip was similar to the one he read in the Tibetan Book of the Dead, where at the end he experienced his reincarnation.
This movie is a great piece of art. The reasons are: First, it has a high quality of digital effects in the spiritual moments, which are very stimulant and crazy. Second, the plot is very existentialist because the events of the life of the protagonist are hard and that makes you reflect on the transcendence of life. For me, existentialist plots are very important because they make a cult movie.
This film allows to create a new type of films where the protagonists are anti heroes or villains and so we can know their stories. Knowing the beginning of the villains and their reasons for being bad are stories that will never be boring to see and more if they are faithful to the personalities of their protagonists. Deadpool is an excellent example, this film manages humor and sarcasm that characterize the protagonist.
