“We All Have a Different Disease”
To speed research progress, Fox Insight aims to capture
day-to-day “lived experience” of Parkinson’s disease
by MICHAEL J. FOX FOUNDATION STAFF
This fall marks the official launch of Fox Insight
(foxinsight.org), an online clinical study aiming
to create a true partnership between Parkinson’s
patients and researchers to advance urgently needed
scientific breakthroughs for Parkinson’s disease (PD).
Fox Insight is open to anyone 18 or older
worldwide with or without Parkinson’s disease.
The study offers a user-friendly online platform
that makes it possible to share what only patients
and families can: the long-term, day-to-day, lived
experience of Parkinson’s disease.
Michael J. Fox launched the Foundation in 2000
with a vision of bringing people with Parkinson’s
(and their loved ones) and PD scientists into a true
two-way dialogue, and Fox Insight represents a
new opportunity to realize that vision with greater
immediacy than ever. “One of our Foundation’s
most important goals has been finding a way to
incorporate patient involvement and patient
knowledge and wisdom and enthusiasm in
research,” he says.
