A Note from Our CEO
Partnerships Foster Progress
Developing new treatments for a complex brain disorder such as Parkinson ’ s takes a long time . As anyone with the condition ( or a loved one who has been diagnosed ) will tell you , it takes too long . The Michael J . Fox Foundation ’ s mission is to speed the process up , and we can move ahead faster by working together . Through collaboration with drug developers , government , and , most importantly , people living with Parkinson ’ s and their families , we can push closer to urgently needed breakthroughs .
We work with companies and academic groups to support their projects and help them move closer to or through clinical testing . Many of these partners — including a handful with therapies to slow or stop disease progression — are advancing new therapies toward patient hands . Read more in our cover story about how our de-risking model is enabling further development of these potential treatments .
Proving a drug is effective for Parkinson ’ s is not the last step to getting it to patients , though . On page 8
we outline priorities of our new policy program . Working with federal and state regulators and lawmakers can help us speed new treatments to patients and improve access to care .
No matter what we do , we can never achieve our goals without you — the vibrant and proactive Parkinson ’ s community .
