WHEN HER HUSBAND, GP, was diagnosed with Parkinson’ s disease in his 70s, Daria C. was unsure what the diagnosis meant— or how it would change their lives.“ I didn’ t know much about this disease; nobody really informed me. I didn’ t know what to do or how to face it,” she said.
Despite the uncertainty, Daria confronted each increasingly difficult day with optimism and hope.“ Even when you don’ t want to smile, you must. It’ s very important to show your loved one that there is always hope, somehow.” She lived by those words every day, standing by GP’ s side until his passing in 2023.

In the wake of her loss, Daria looked for ways to honor his legacy and make a positive impact for others facing PD.“ I wanted to do something real for the people who would be affected by Parkinson’ s, because when this disease touches you, it becomes even bigger.” She found MJFF through Michael J. Fox.“ I knew about Michael, and I was so touched to discover the Foundation. I knew it was the right one.”
Daria is proud to support MJFF through a planned gift, carrying on the legacy of optimism and hope she relied on throughout GP’ s journey with Parkinson’ s.“ I think the Foundation has achieved a lot, so why wouldn’ t I want to be part of that? Of something bigger than me?”
“ I’ m following the progress, and there is so much energy and effort from MJFF,” she said.“ So, I do the best I can do, in my way, to help.”
