more about on page 4 ). We are also focusing on research to better understand the genetic basis of the disease and capitalizing on a well-established therapeutic pipeline that is maturing at just the right moment , with at least 15 therapies targeting alpha-synuclein .
This is an aggressive research agenda . In fact , it ’ s our most ambitious one to date . And we strongly believe in our ability to deliver results . Not because it will be easy — nothing about Parkinson ’ s is easy . But here ’ s the truth : We believe because you believe . And we are relentless because we know you are with us every step of the way .
Here ’ s a great example : This summer , our community closely tracked the journey of four men ( including one who lives with Parkinson ’ s ) who rowed 2,800 miles across the Pacific Ocean to raise funds for research . Inspired by their commitment to curing PD , a record number of individual donors — amplified by an unprecedented 3:1 match from an anonymous donor — raised $ 41 million .
