During February, Middle school celebrated BIPOC month. The month launched with an assembly led by the Middle school Student council, in which they shared their personal experiences of racism with the other students. They then introduced the race card project to each homeroom. IMYC coordinattor Mr Richard Price elaborates on what the students got up to.
The Race Card Project
A little about the race card project… In 2010, journalist Michele Norris started the race card project by inviting people to share their thoughts on the word race in only six words (backstories and photos are also shared to better explain the meaning behind the 6 words). The project initially started with Michele printing 200 postcards but there are now more than half a million personal narratives shared on the race card project website.
