graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in 2015, I took up a Schuman Traineeship at the European Parliament Information Office in Valletta for 5 months where I learned a great deal about campaigning and communications.
Having frequented an international school, I was curious and open to living and studying abroad. I moved to London in 2016 to undertake a Master of Science in Public Policy at University College London and simultaneously work at the Malta High Commission in London as an intern during Malta’s first ever Presidency of the European Council.
After a few months working in migration at the European Asylum Support Office in Malta, my career began to take a different direction, in the technology sector. I worked as an Associate in the Technology, Media and Telecoms team at a public policy consultancy in London called Global Counsel, and later as a Policy Manager for Data, Cloud and AI in a leading technology trade association in the UK, called TechUK.
Working in smaller organisations helped me gain critical experience in different parts of a business and client management. However, I was ready for my next step in my career working in-house for a large tech company. In 2021, I began working for Google at their London office as an Advertising Industry Relations Manager where I currently use my knowledge in public policy and communications and apply it to the ads industry. - Alsessandra Baldacchino
