lived for a spell in Nevada where we had our son Quinn (future VIS 10th grader). Craving to live near water again, we moved back to the San Juan Islands off the coast of Washington and we added our daughter Shea (future VIS 8th grader) to the Currie Salter clan. We've since been teaching abroad and lived in Japan on the northern Island of Hokkaido. Wanting to show our children a bit of the African continent, we next went to the capital of Cameroon. And now we've been in Bangalore for the last 4 years where I teach TOK, IB History, Global Politics and IGCSE Global Perspectives. I love exploring new areas and trying new things; outdoor activities and yoga are my attempts at staying active and relaxed, books and movies are also pleasing ways to pass the time. We are really looking forward to learning more about Malta and becoming part of the VIS community.

I am proud to be joining the Verdala team as the Elementary Principal. I was born in Toronto, Canada but have spent much of my life abroad. My personal learning journey has taken me through Vietnam, Mexico, Bulgaria and Lebanon and now my wife (Elise), two daughters (Olive and Kyla) and I are preparing to call Malta our next home.

My passion for learning almost anything new has followed me throughout my life, but it has also led me to explore a few hobbies and pastimes that have become favorites. They include SCUBA diving, playing the guitar and photography. I enjoy them so much, I sometimes try to engage in two of them at the same time. I'll leave it to you to determine which ones they might be. I am incredibly excited about the opportunity to learn, grow and explore as part of the VIS community and I am looking forward to meeting everyone very soon!
