A Word From

the Head of School

There is an idea in J. Collin’s book “Good to great” explained as the Stockdale paradox, that you must never confuse faith that “it all will be ok” whilst ignoring the brutal realities of the current situation. Although it is important to believe that it will be ok in the end, we also have to manage where we are here and now. This pandemic year has been about managing and reacting and above all caring for those affected. The school has done phenomenally well to stay open and support students online. Whilst we have always lived in hope that things will get better, we have followed the rules. It has been an emotional rollercoaster, with families dealing with upsets both at home and abroad. We reach the end of the year knowing that we did this together, Students, Staff and Parents - we are ok and we can do it again if necessary.

Thank you to everyone who helped keep things as normal as possible, The Fort is a wonderful example of how much stuff still happens at VIS despite all. Thank you to everyone for their part in making it work for our VIS students and our community.

engaging and ensuring that our VIS students even those on Distance Learning throughout the whole year are still progressing.

As we look to the future, it is clear that aspects of this may well continue into 2021-22, however with 90% of our staff vaccinated school can start to feel much safer and we will continue to be flexible and support students as best we can. We look forward to our students (fingers crossed) returning back to the classroom on April 12.

Stay safe and well,

.
