HS Principal

I was honoured to step up into the VIS High School Principal role in February 2021. As an eager and wide-eyed educator who first started teaching in an American public school in 2006 after receiving my Masters in Secondary Education, never could I have imagined then that the journey ahead, with so many twists and turns, would lead me to a principalship in a school located on an old fort, in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea. Of course, my family would say they are not that surprised at all! Before we settled in Malta some 4 ½ years ago, my educational dreams and ambitions led me to unique, beautiful, and at times challenging parts of the world. From teaching World History to English as a Second Language (ESL) High School students in the United States, to creating an ESL Literacy program and training educators on 20th century pedagogical practices in South Africa, to my first small island school experience teaching the IB Diploma Program in the Caribbean island of Antigua, to journeying to the Middle East to continue teaching IBDP and MYP History in the United Arab Emirates, to finally settling in Malta at Verdala. Each and every experience inside a classroom in a different country afforded me with new ways and means of educating young people. I learned resilience, patience, empathy, and determination to keep moving forward. I am excited to begin this new phase of my life’s journey.
