So, on Friday 29th May, one week after the IB Diploma examinations would have finished, at 7 pm, I was in school with Ms Aris and a support team, in front of the flags, wearing my suit and tie, conducting a virtual graduation. Through Zoom, our faculty, our graduates and their guests were present. Everyone was smartly dressed, we had an amazing guest speaker, gave out the awards, conferred the diplomas, moved the tassels from right to left, and then our Graduating Class tossed their caps into the air and became graduates, ex-students, alumni.
It was somewhat different from in previous years, but the key components remained and a number of special new components were added, and as a community we celebrated this act of closure which is so important to so many of us.
