New International Role for
Head of School
The workload of the IB Board of Governors can be sustainably integrated into Ms Aris’s current duties.

This Board reserves two places for Governors who are serving heads of school. One of these has now been taken up by Ms Aris. This is an honour for the school as she was nominated, interviewed and selected from a short-list. Apart from the valuable contribution that Ms Arris will doubtless give to the work of the IB Board of Governors, this also means that she will be in a privileged position to appreciate how the quality of IB teaching, assessment and results at VIS can be further improved. Ms Aris’ role as IB Board Governor will, I am sure, not deter from her role at the school which will always remain her first priority.
I am sure you will join me and the Board of Governors in offering our hearty congratulations to Ms Aris for this career achievement. I have no doubt that this new role will enrich her leadership of our school community, so as to continuously seek to improve the educational experience and future prospects of our students.

Board Chair's Message
Dear Parents, teachers and students of the VIS Community
Ms Totty Aris, VIS HoS, has been recently asked to be on the International Baccalaureate Organisation(IBO) Board of Governors. The IBO offers the IB in almost 5,000 schools globally, in over 150 countries, with programmes such as the IB Diploma and IB Career-related Diploma, both programmes that our school is committed to.
The IB Board of Governors plays an important role in setting the strategic direction of the IB. As well as appointing the Director General, the Board is responsible for, amongst other things, making policy and ensuring the autonomy and integrity of IB diploma examinations and other student assessment worldwide.
