Theatre Performances

HIGH SCHOOL

Ms Daphne Said - Art Department

It is undeniable that the most stressful moment for any Drama student and Drama teacher is the moment the audience are all seated, the house lights go off and suddenly the whole space is black. At that point everyone takes a deep breath and hopes for the best!

Will I remember all my lines? Will the student stand in the right space for the spotlight to get them? Where is my very important prop? Will they remember to move the chair for me? These are all the questions that pass through our minds at 200miles per hour. Then the music goes on, the lights fill the space and before we all know it - the performance that the students had been working on for 8 weeks go by like a flash.

A big round of applause and then we all breathe again! As a Drama teacher, this is also the moment when I feel so proud of all my students.

Every single one of them, gives their very best to present a performance that truly reflects all the work they have been doing.

The Grade 9 students this year presented extracts from

Blood Brothers by W. Russell, a play about two twins that were separated at birth, found each other and were both murdered on the same day.

So You Think You’re A Superhero? by P. Virk, focused on how superheroes want to be human and how humans would love to be superheroes.

Variations by K. Hims is a play about family, string theory and breakfast.
