Reflecting on this year's Booster events

|61|

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for contributing to make this year a huge success!

The year has been chock full of events and fund-raising activities, with some of the more recent ones being the very popular Car Boot Sale, the Spring Fun Day for Elementary School and a slightly wetter than planned International Night.

Thanks to the success of this year’s Car Boot Sale and the efforts of Lisa Grech, we are hoping to host more Car Boot Sales next year due to popular demand.

Both the Spring Fun Day and International Night were hindered by the weather, but we really appreciate all of those who attended International Night despite the wind and the rain. Your perseverance showed how strong the community of Verdala truly is - we just carried on regardless.

Our goal at the start of the year was to make our events more environmentally friendly and remove plastic where possible. We now purchase cups, plates, cutlery and napkins that are all compostable from a sustainable and eco-friendly company.

We have also welcomed the involvement of the Earth Club in our events. Their commitment to reducing plastic and encouraging us all to recycle more has been impressive, and we look forward to their continued involvement next year.

Following feedback from the community, we have moved away from Wudy sausages and now use locally made wholesome Chicken sausages including a gluten free option at each event.

The commitment of the CAS students, led by Gleb Shevchenko (Grade 11), has been amazing. They have worked tirelessly on all the events, supporting the Booster Excom in setting up the events, manning stalls and helping to tidy up after the events.

So where has the money we have raised been spent?

We were pleased to be able to assist the school in completing an outdoor area for the staff in Elementary, which they are very happy with.

Money was contributed towards the climbing frame in Kinder, and bean bag chairs were given to Middle School for the Library they are developing.

Each section of the school has enjoyed a Booster Pizza day!

We are planning to purchase books to supplement the MS Library as well as looking to replace the roof for the structure outside of the Cafeteria in High School.

Any suggestions for spending should be directed to the Executive Committee for consideration.

Thank you again!
