Student Learning Experiences

I joined Verdala last year and for me it was a very pleasant change from my previous school. The environment and atmosphere was very friendly so it made the transition easier for me. The teachers and the students in high school had a big impact on me since they were all so welcoming and accepting which came as a pleasant surprise. After being STUCO president, I got to know the school on another level regarding the staff, the internal and external problems, but also the hard work that is being put in by all of the members of the Verdala community. I do think that Verdala has great opportunities to offer and I do appreciate the effort that is being put in for us students. In return for all this hard work, students of Verdala, especially the grade 12’s, are expected to be on their best behavior. Of course sometimes this can cause clashes between teachers and students, but overall we always manage to impress and surprise our teachers, parents and visitors since students in our school are genuinely kindhearted, polite and great fun to be around.

The IB is a journey full of positive experiences which I would have not been able to encounter otherwise. For example, through CAS, I got to be a part of and meet some of the most inspiring people I have come across so far. Through the process of writing my extended essay and all of the IA’s, I got to grow as an independent learner and thinker which I am sure will come useful in university. My journey through IB did not start off great since I was more focused on spending time with my friends and getting to know Malta rather than studying, but during the second year I believe I am more focused and have made progress by studying and focusing in class. So, if I am able to pull through than there is hope for everyone.

Even though I have only been a part of this community for a very short period of time, I consider the people I’ve met here family. I will forever be grateful for the endless memories, lifetime learning experiences and laughs I have created, thanks to this school and its community.
