Grade 8's have tackled coding in a variety of ways this year. They learned how to create a website using HTML and CSS in their unit of entrepreneurship. They designed a website on a topic that they were passionate about.

It is amazing to see the variety of interests and topics that they created their websites on.

In their coding unit, Grade 8's coded games using Scratch and Python based on their interests and skills. We are also trying to extend our coding activities into tinkering with makerspace activities. Makerspace activities and projects are providing hands-on activities and creative ways to encourage students to design, experiment, build and invent as they deeply engage in solving problems or creating and tinkering by linking technology to something that they are building. This year, grade 8's will be building their own robots and will be coding them to race each other going over obstacles.

Here are some snapshots of the external remote controls created and linked by Grade 7 students in playing their games that they coded. Although they had so many problems throughout the project, they all became proud of overcoming these obstacles and achieving their goals in the end.
