8. Lover to Lover One of the most underrated Lover. Ceremonials songs, the retro feel to this song works so well live, especially when Florence teases the crowd with an extended intro! 9. Heartlines Acoustic version, sing-along time, Heartlines. slowing the tempo a bit, and allowing the crowd to pause for a bit of breath. 10. Sweet Nothing Acoustic version - a place has to Nothing. be found in the set list for Florence’s sublime acoustic version of her No.1 collaboration with Calvin Harris. 11. Spectrum Leading up to the end of the main set, Spectrum. Florence starts generating more energy in the crowd. 12. No Light, No Light What else! This has to be Light. either a main set closer or last song in an encore, no question! Frenetic end to a set, with all classic Flo song attributes present and correct. Encore 2 16. Rebel Rebel We need a surprise. One of my Rebel. minor criticisms of Florence, especially since the end of the Lungs tours, is that she doesn’t surprise us often enough. This would surprise on two counts: firstly in that we’re in a second encore, and secondly that Florence would do this. Florence famously covered this at the Met Gala in 2011, and although the song was written by Bowie 40 years ago, it could have been written for or about Florence! I would LOVE to see this one played live by Florence + the Machine! 17. Kiss with a Fist A second surprise! This has only Fist. been played live once since the end of the Lungs tours, and missed by many longer-term Flows who remember the short sharp burst of energy of this song. This song would bring the show to a suitably chaotic finish! Encore 1 13. Over The Love. See the Chime for Change performance; the only reason I need to include this gem! 14. Never Let Me Go I can never understand why Never Go. this was dropped from the set on the final leg of the Ceremonials Tour. It means so much to so many people out there. 15. Dog Days Are Over A FATM show without this Over. is unthinkable. After 2 slow paced songs, this brings the show up to another crescendo. I could start a thousand debates over this! There is one g laring omission, but it should be noted that this song wa s only played at about half of the Ceremonials gigs (You' ve Got the Love). I could easily make a case for includin g Leave My Body and Blinding, but something else wou ld have to come off the set list instead! Who knows what the set list might evolve into with album #3, one suspect s that it may go up to about 18 songs for full arena gigs, but maybe stay at 12 – 14 songs for festivals. Hopefully we won’t have to wait too long! THE FLOW MAGAZINE ISSUE 6 | APRIL 2014 © conception studios 9|Page
