There are so many different types of fins on the market. How do you know what is best for you to be using. Well if you are new to float tube fishing and need some advice you have come to the right place. Here we will break down the different types of fins out there and get you on the water with the right fin for your needs.

Let’s break it down like this; 3 basic types of fin, Full Foot Fin, Open Heel fin and step in fin. What is the difference you say, well I am glad you asked. The difference has to do with your waders… Waders you ask, tell me more. So if you are waders are the boot style (what I mean is you have a full boot with a sole on it for your waders then you need to look at the Step n fin. The boots will not fit into a Full foot fin, and most often wont fit an Open heel fin. If you have a stocking wader you can use the full foot fin, (be sure to over size as they will be tough to fit on the open foot.) By the open heel fin is by far the most popular and best setup for stocking foot waders. So when getting fins you first need to start with your choice of waders. Hint: as we have talked about before on the forum. When possible be sure to take your waders with you when you purchase your fins to test for a proper fit.
