Q: What is your biggest catch so far?

A: From the tube my best is 24 inch bass at 4.7 pounds which I am pretty happy with. I caught a good halibut off a ¾ day boat when I was 11 or 12. I don’t know the size but it was a grueling fight for me so it stands out as the biggest fish I ever caught.

Q: What is your best memory of fishing?

A: It was a 1/2 day boat off the Seal Beach pier I was 12 or 13 with my Uncle Denny (RIP my mentor). I’m just guessing at Horseshoe Kelp, but we were killing a school of barracuda which my Uncle Denny hated. Anyways the tax man shows up and is robbing us here and there. Some dude near me is using a big Penn with a wire leader and gets a hold of this shark and drags it up next to the boat. Remember, this is 1972 or so, before I can think the deckhand has one hand on my shoulder and is leaning over the rail with a 30-06 pointed at the water. He says move over junior, and blasts that thing in the head right then and there. My ears were ringing but dam that’s manly shit right there bro. That was impressive as hell to me. I don’t recall what I kept that day cause my uncle made me toss the cuda’s back. Now I always keep them because they make great barracuda fish sandwiches.

Q: What is your hope or goal for 2016?

A: Last year was pretty good for me a far as being social and fishing, so I want to keep meeting up with the other guys on the forum. There is a lot I have learned from this group and that makes it fun to fish and share techniques with other guys. And of course there is that double digit bass to pull out of Perris.
