Are you dehydrated on the water
Summer is here, stay hydrated on the water
Hydration tends to be that thing some of over look, we are in the water right so it cannot be that bad right. Wrong we dehydrate very fast even while in the water. How many of you while fishing on a hot day notice having a headache, dizzy or light headedness, or maybe you notice you have dry mouth. These are basic signs of dehydration, and this is our bodies way of alerting us of a serious problem. You must always keep in mind these simple things.
1. Sweating, it is a good thing you cannot sweat if you are not hydrated.
* Of course this will also lead to dehydration.
2. Are you still needing to pee and what color is it
* Urine should be clear the more yellow and pungent it is the more dehydration concerns you should have, and no urine, well this means sever dehydration.
3. Am I taking in water on the water.
* I believe we tend to think I don’t want to have to pee whiel I am fishing so I will drink when I get out. Wrong, on a true hot day while putting water in it is possible that the need to hit the restroom is slim to none, as your body is using it all. This is a good thing but it also means that you need to increase your water intake.
Becoming dehydrated will float tubing will end a great day on the water. Make sure to always have at least 6 to 8 glasses of water a day, and make sure that you drink some of that while you are on the water. It is funny how drinking water while on the water is the best way to keep you in the water. Happy tubing everyone have a safe and fun summer session. By: J Bernier
