Texas/Carolina rig
These two rigs get worked and deployed in essentially the same way. Both rigs are used in heavy coverage and work exceptionally well in grass and weed being that they are weedless setups. Just like all set ups hook choice is key; always choose the correct size hook for your bait. With the Texas rig you will have a sliding bullet sinker on your line above the hook so that the weight is free to slide from the eye of the hook up the line. However with the Carolina rig you will use a sliding egg sinker and it will be above a swivel or some type of weight stopper with 1-2 feet of leader line to the hook.
With these set up you are going to work the bait on the slower side popping the bait off the bottom 1-3 times followed by anything from a 1- 10 second pause however a 3 second pause is good starting point all while keeping a bit of slack in the line. A bite with this techniques is far less dramatic but in some way much more obvious. Many times the bite will occur on the fall of the bait after a pop or during the pause in which both times there should be slack in the line. The bight can be recognized by watching the line very closely. If the line appears to start drifting left, right out or in the fish has picked up the bait and it is time to quickly reel in the slack and set the hook.
