Student Stories Shapshot - The Choir The Choir Rebecca Madden was a mainstay in many aspects of College life, but in particular took an active role in the Grey College Choir. Rebecca Madden During my time here at Durham I have been deeply involved in the musical life of Grey College. When I first arrived I looked at a few different college choirs, but found that my own college choir, Grey choir, was the perfect balance of serious performance and relaxed, friendly attitude to suit my contact hour heavy degree! I was award- ed a choral scholarship and sang with the choir in their various events and concerts. I enjoyed my time in choir so much that at the end of my first year I decided to go for an exec position and ended up being elected as the president. I was keen for the choir to have as many performance opportunities as possible and so I set about organising a Christmas concert, carolling at the Christmas Market, carolling at Christmas formal, a carol ser- vice in college, a joint service in the Cathe- dral with St. Mary’s College, and an Easter concert as wel
