Hello there, prospective engineer.
How can I put this? I’ve had
this feeling before (well, we all will at
some stage): that point when you
reach life’s crossroads. When you
have to gulp down that proverbial
brave pill and take a decision to go
ahead with only one of the few
choicest alternatives at your disposal,
after splitting your hair over the pros
and cons of each one, listening to
endless advice and clamour and
enduring the all-important ordeal of
the grueling entrance tests. Your
attempts to correctly permute the best
branch and college might have just
brought you to a discerning choice at
this moment of reckoning. You could
cut your tension with a knife. You look
ahead, with cold, sweaty palms and a
quiver down your spine, and make
that crucial judgment which will go on
to shape your career and life. A choice
is made.
To be plain, we wish to create no
drama in your anxious head already
abuzz with thoughts and reveries of
impending days in college. We believe
that most of you seeking counsel on
this front have already made up your
mind as to where you’ll pursue
undergraduate studies. Hence, the
idea behind these pages is simple: to
give you a succinct, yet all-inclusive
glimpse into the defining elements of
the engineering college we know as
BITS Pilani (Pilani Campus) and to
help you make an informed decision.

Consider this a preamble to the most
intellectually stimulating phase of your
life. You’ll love this one. There will
inevitably be that lurking anxiety, an
inherent conflict in the mind as you
jam-pack your suitcases with a
multitude of dreams and step into the
carriage that takes you to your dream
college. Typical.
One must be earnest; passionate. And
let me remind you this – never stop
learning. Yes, you may have breezed
through your tests over the past two
months, but let that not get to your
head (advice much?). And meet new
people. As many as you can, which
I’m sure you will. Above all, find
yourself and the meaning of life (more
on this inside). Cherish these years
before they whizz past you, leaving
behind a profoundly changed soul.
Being ardent students of the internet
(which you were probably painfully
deprived of for the past two years) you
might already know where to look for
what and get that decisive bit of data
to make your call. We’ve taken it a
step ahead though, and a big, farsighted and calculated one at that,
too. Flipping through these pages will
make you privy to every aspect you’d
want to know about the Pilani
Poppycock. I might have stretched it a
campus. We’ve painted an all- Welcome to college.
