30 Rob Prichard and be unequivocal in committing the University to being a first-class host. One thing we underestimated at the time was how important Toronto would be as a host city. Its location in the heart of an ever more attractive and diverse global city has made the Fields Institute ever more attractive as well. And one thing we hoped for at the time has also been a great boost: the University of Toronto’s steady ascent among the world’s leading research universities has made us an ever better host for Fields as one of the world’s great centres for mathematics.
