In Search of Seclusion

Being on an island one would immediately assume that life is laid back and slower than it is on a continent. That assumption is generally true. However Phuket attracts international visitors, that even in the so called off season, hourly fly in to enjoy the beaches.

Phuket is not massive in Island terms, so to find seclusion is challenging especially since the beaches themselves are hunted down with more vigor than a rare Pokémon.

To this end we used Google maps to locate a spot on the eastern coast as it is less visited by tourists than the west. Waking up wallet is also a key ingredient as the night life keeps visitors to Thailand in doors until midday hunger chases them outdoors.

We wake after a late night at 5am. The sun is rising in 1hour and 7 minutes. We must get to the pinned beach before sunrise otherwise photo opportunities are wasted. To say we woke up at 5am is inaccurate. The alarm clock went off at 5am. Celeste hit snooze. 45 minutes to sunrise I sit bolt upright. (expletive) get moving.” We do.
