I bet many of you have dreamt about a surfing life if you aren ’ t living it already . Phil Edwards said “ The best surfer out there is the one having the most fun .” And I think that is the kind of thinking that should be extended to surfing life . If you are not having fun , what is the point ?
To build a surfing life or lifestyle you will need to populate your current lifestyle with a few things .
Your location :
You need to live in very close proximity to great surfing waves in order to surf as often as possible . If you are living in a landlocked country , it ’ s time to plan your move . Great surf locations include the USA Hawaii , Brazil , Portugal and South Africa . Smaller surf towns like Jeffrey ’ s Bay in South Africa offer a cheaper lifestyle and you ’ ll often find the waves all to yourself .
Your Job :
You cannot under any circumstances have a 9 to 5 job . It will cut into valuable surf time . Murphy ’ s Law will ensure great swell between those working hours and nothing before or after .
Instead you need an online or freelance job . Starting your own blog and monetizing it might just be what you need to fund your lifestyle .
