Intro ... St. Francis whose name comes from the Latin word stfrancilis, meaning “they think they so cool”, has a population of around 5000 people and gained its independence from J’Bay in 1901. Coincidentally this was the same year Australia gained its independence from the UK. In the divorce settlement J’Bay kept Supertubes and St. Francis got Bruce. Bruce, an Australian convict, was sentenced to clear boulders from the site where the golf course was to be constructed. Lazy guy that he was, he just lobbed the rocks into the ocean much to the irritation of the local environmentalists. Sadly, Bruce died from eating a dubious steak and kidney pie (later revealed to have been provided by a known tree hugger), never to realise that he had just built a legendary point break, Bruce’s Beauties! Yes, it’s easy to forget the rich history of St. Francis, especially since J’bay hogs the limelight due to its superior surfing spots. So, for that reason we are celebrating the town of St. Francis. From surf spots to things to do we show you that St. Francis is more than just a port and a lighthouse.
