SHARPEN YOUR SHEARS WITH BURGON & BALL AT NSA SHEEP EVENT
Burgon & Ball, the world’s oldest and largest manufacturer of hand shears, will be exhibiting at the National Sheep Association (NSA) Sheep Event 2016, and will offer a free shear sharpening service to visitors.
The event takes place on Wednesday 27 July at the Three Counties Showground, Malvern, Worcestershire, so there’s plenty of time to dig out those Burgon & Ball hand shears and get ready to take them along to the experts on the big day.
The manufacturer has centuries of expertise in steel under its belt, having been making cast steel hand shears in Sheffield since 1730. Currently in the factory there is a combined total of over 200 years of metalworking experience, and at the NSA Sheep Event some of the company’s experts will be showing how its shears are finished by hand, with demonstrations of skills including bending, setting and grinding.
John Osowski is one of the Burgon & Ball team who will be at the show. He’s been with the company for decades, and works in the Sheffield factory with his brother Ken, who specialises in the early stages of shear production. Together they have worked on hundreds of thousands of pairs of shears, and this is why Burgon & Ball shears are so special; individually hand crafted and still produced in Sheffield.
In addition to the demonstrations of hand finishing, the team will be offering a free of charge sharpening service for Burgon & Ball shears. Show visitors are invited to call in at Stand 115 in the Wye Hall to give their shears a brilliant edge and to find out about Burgon & Ball’s expertise in hand shears.
