Round and square baler focus at Welsh Winter Fair

KUHN Farm Machinery will display its large capacity fixed chamber round baler – the FB 3130 – and its auto-loading square and round bale wrapper – the new SW 4014 – at the RWAS Winter Fair in Builth Wells on 30th November and 1st December 2015.

Auto-loading bale wrapper

The new SW 4014 is an updated version of KUHN’s range topping square and round bale wrapper, the SW 4004, which now features a fully automatic loading facility which increases the machine’s bale wrapping capacity and improves operator comfort.

Capable of wrapping square bales up to (W x H x L) 120cm x 140cm x 200cm and round bales up to 150cm in diameter, the SW 4014 has an operational width of 4.00 metres and a compact, 2.50 metre transport width.

The baler is equipped with KUHN’s unique AUTOLOAD system which uses a laser to detect square bales as the machine approaches. The laser automatically scans the length of the bale and sets the loading arms into their pre-load position. The machine then automatically loads, wraps and unloads bales. This not only improves operating efficiency and speed (users are reporting up to a 15% increase in daily bale wrapping capacity) but also reduces operator fatigue.

The SW 4014 is ISOBUS compatible and uses KUHN’s IntelliWrap™ system to provide optimal film distribution across the entire circumference of the bale: the Intelliwrap system allows the operator to select between four and nine layers of film to be applied, with the wrapping film being pre-stretched as it is applied to create a tight seal and reduce film usage. The film is then cut and held ready for the next bale by two “scissors-type” film cutters.

Fixed chamber round baler

KUHN will also display the latest version of its round baler, the FB 3130, at the Winter Fair. The MkII FB range of fixed chamber balers includes a number of new features which improve baling speed, quality and efficiency.

The latest FB balers are available with two different intake rotors – KUHN’s OPTIFEED or OPTICUT 14 systems – both of which share the same 2.30m pick-up width for maximum productivity.

The OPTIFEED rotor uses double feeding tines and integrated augers to provide an even and consistent flow of crop into the bale chamber for improved bale consistency. The OPTICUT 14 rotor is fitted with 14 knives which provide a cutting length of 70mm and which even out the swath by force-feeding the crop into the baler for maximum throughput.

The new FB uses Kuhn’s PENDULUM pick-up to gather the densest of swaths at high forward speeds and uses height adjustable guide wheels for accurately carrying the pick-up over every ground contour.

The FB is also equipped with KUHN’s POWERTRACK system which uses 18 asymmetrical, ribbed steel rollers to rotate and tightly compress bales as they are being produced.

The FB MkII range also features Kuhn’s hydraulic POWERLOCK rear door cylinders which work in combination with a hydraulic lock valve to produce maximum bale density. Fast door opening and closing means more bales per hour and improved efficiency.
