Cheale Meats Ltd is a family owned business that has been running in excess of 50 years. The site operates on the original family farm that the has been owned and run since the 60‘s by the family. The business was originally started by Andrew the eldest Cheale brother and it was not long before his two brothers and sister joined the growing business. Their abattoir in Little Warley opened in 1970.
Nowadays the family involvement is still as strong as ever with the next generation coming through in all areas of the business to ensure efficiency, quality and consistent high standards for our customers farmers and suppliers.
Cheale Meats Ltd is a family owned business that is based in Essex, we slaughter all weights of pigs for the UK trade, suppling some of the biggest wholesalers in the UK, with British Red tractor approved pork. Cheale”s have their own roller stamped Red Tractor approved brand called “CQP” pork, this can supplied in several specs, Free Range, Outdoor, Rare Breed, Locally Produced. Cheale’s also process sows for export and home trade, we sell to processors that require the full range of approvals that we hold, BRC, BQAP, Red Tractor, IPPC.
Cheale’s are focused on supplying the British farmer with the best possible price for their stock by seeking out niche markets for all of their products whether its sow or pig meat. We study various markets to try to add value to all facets of the carcass especially the 5th quarter, this enables us to pay a better prices to the our farmers/suppliers.
Cheale’s site is fully integrated, it has its own transport department that runs 10 of its own articulated trucks with a trailer fleet of 30 refrigerated trailers, its own livestock vehicles, a lorry maintenance workshop that ensures that the wheels keep turning and ensures the livestock is picked up and meat continues to be delivered. Also on site is a fully equipped maintenance department that has all the tools needed to keep the line running and the site in top reliable condition.
Cheale’s are also well aware of he environmental constraints that pig farmers are put under now, we ourselves have been scrutinised by the Environment Agency to obtain the all encompassing IPPC permit with which many farmers are familiar with.
