EFFECTIVE MANAGEMENT OF LAND TODAY’S APPROACH
Access to data, relevant to your
land, has never been more available
than it is today which has bred a
whole new approach to managing
land.
Farming today is constantly changing,
require more and more decisions to be
made in a wide range of areas. It is
important to keep up-to-date with these
changes by using the right tools. A
successful business needs to reduce
energy, financial costs and lost time, and
the use of technology is one of the best
ways to get the information that we need in
front of us to make decision making as
straightforward as possible.
C.R.Willcocks,
one of the west
country’s largest
farm and garden
machinery
retailers, has
cause for double
celebration.
Their open day
on November
20th marked the
fifty years since
the Devon based
company began
trading in 1964
and they also
used the event
to celebrate their
appointment as
Polaris ATV and
UTV dealers.
Open to everyone
in the area, the day
provided visitors
with refreshments
and local pasties,
prize draws and
discounts, and
a view of the
latest machinery.
Of particular
interest was the
opportunity to
demonstrate
the new Polaris
Ranger Diesel
UTV, with its
ProFit cab system
that can be clipped
on in minutes.
“Selling Polaris means we have a good selection of
machines to meet customer demand,” says Dealer
Principal, Stephen Retallick, “and we can offer competitive
pricing, good quality and a lot of flexibility.” Stephen,
with the company ten years, and his wife, Managing
Director Susannah, took over the business together with
Service Director Andrew Joll and Parts
Director Mike Ford. They keep a finger
on the pulse of Willcocks, which today
is twenty seven strong, providing sales
and service.
“We’re very pleased to have CR
Willcocks join the growing network of
Polaris dealers,” says Polaris’ Country
Manager, Phil Everett. “They cover
an area of south Devon and the west
that is very much Polaris country,
both agricultural and as a holiday
destination with all types of amenities
and recreational areas. The Polaris
range offers plenty of choice for
Willcocks’ customers.”
As a servicing dealer, Stephen adds,
Willcocks do more than just selling.
They will come up with ideas and
advice, and look after the machine
from the beginning until it’s time to
change, covering all the aspects of
servicing and warranty. It’s what they
have been doing for fifty years and
they are taking a pride in doing it for
the next fifty.

The farming world is entering an era of
transition with the introduction of the new
Basic Payment Scheme and the expected
changes to applications under the
agri-environment scheme. This period of
change will be with us for a while and it is
something that we will all have to become
familiar with. Keeping control of the
process will require planning, preparation
