New Zetor Crystal is available to order now
Launched by the factory in June this year, Zetor’s new Crystal marked a return of a well-loved name from the Czech Republic-based manufacturer. Built by the company from 1969 until production was switched to Slovakia in 1981, the Crystal range included the 12011 that was introduced in 1975 as Zetor’s first ever six-cylinder tractor; the latest Crystal marks the return of six-cylinder power to the brand.
The original Crystal was well known for its crisp, angular lines, and echoes of this can be seen in the styling of the newcomer, which is being offered in 144hp and 163hp models. Both of these new flagship models are powered by 6.1-litre Deutz TCD engines that have selective catalytic reduction (SCR) technology using AdBlue to meet the Stage IIIB engine emissions standard.
The 24-valve, electronically regulated, common-rail diesels offer up to 38% torque rise to keep them moving in the toughest of conditions. And low fuel consumption combined with a 300-litre fuel tank and 30-litre AdBlue tank mean the tractors will work all day without a refill.
The new Crystal features a 30-forward/30-reverse, 40km/hr transmission with five mechanical gears, two ranges, three powershifts and a powershuttle. Importantly, there are 13 gears in the 4km/hr to 12km/hr working range.
The rear axle on Zetor’s Crystal has been strengthened to handle the higher engine outputs from the new models, while a stronger front axle from Carraro, that’s available with optional independent suspension, is also fitted.
A four-speed PTO with 540rpm and 1,000rpm speeds in standard and eco modes is standard on the tractor, with a ground speed function available as an option. A 1,000rpm front PTO is also available as an option. The mechanical nature of the PTO driveline means a maximum 128hp or 139hp is available from the two new Crystal models.
The hydraulic system features a dual-pump system with a total flow of 120 lit/min. The rear linkage has 85 lit/min available, and with the assistance of two helper cylinders it has a lift capacity of 8,500kg. Bosch’s Hitchtronic electronic hitch control is standard on the tractors, which also come with three mechanically controlled spools.
The Zetor Crystal features a spring-mounted cab that boasts a noise level of just 73.2dB. Other features of the cabin include air conditioning as standard and an opening roof hatch that makes it easier to work with a front loader.
The tractor has a new bonnet design that features angular elements captured from the original Crystal, as well as up to eight additional work lights on the bonnet and cab to suit any application.
With the ability to add ballast to bring the tractor’s operating weight up to 5,900kg, and a wheelbase of 2,840mm, this new model from Zetor has been built for hard work. And with Zetor’s legendary ease of operation, anyone can be trained to use these new models to a competent level with about 30 minutes’ instruction.
Zetor builds its tractors with three attributes in mind: Power, Durability and Effectiveness. The tractors are designed to provide the best combination of engine power and tractor weight, so that the output is utilised completely. Great emphasis is placed on simple, clever and purposeful design to achieve reliability, simple maintenance and quick service. And Zetor tractors rank among the best in terms of fuel consumption. In the long-term, users also appreciate the affordability of spare parts; and for this reason, the brand is hard to beat in terms of operating costs.
Zetor UK now has Zetor Crystal demonstrators in its fleet that are available for customers to try. The two new range-topping models from the company can be ordered now with retail list prices of £80,260+VAT for the 144hp Crystal 150 and £81,236+VAT for the 163hp Crystal 160. Typical on-farm prices will start at about £59,800+VAT depending on specification for the smaller of the two tractors.
