One thing Tom will not do is sell cheap just to get the deal or give ridiculous part exchange deals as this then undermines the business ’ s profitability and future .
Early on Tom established the second branch of Taylor ATV up at Hawes . This is ideally placed to service the rural farming community and in particular sheep farmers . The site has a lot of potential for the future , and time and finances permitting , Tom would like to see Hawes extended .
Where Taylor ATV scores is its level of service . The right machine for the job will be sold once the business understands the farmer ’ s needs . Machines will be regularly serviced to keep costs down and protect second-hand values . However ,
another key part of the service jigsaw is ensuring the customer knows exactly what the machine can and can ’ t do and how to operate it properly . This also protects the machine , saves service bills and protects trade in value . This has been behind Taylor ATV ’ S business and customer growth .
Given the regular peaks and toughs associated with farming , Tom realised that for the business to thrive and grow he needed other strings to
his bow . With that in mind he has created and maintained a strong customer base serving the estate and equestrian communities across North Yorkshire . Also , there is an ever-growing market for private individuals with large areas of land who realise the versatility of the Quad .
The only stumbling block with having just one main range is that you cannot offer complete diversity , so with that in mind Tom looked for another
manufacturer to complement and extend his successful Honda range . He had been approached by Can-Am , which had its eye on him as a key dealer for north Yorkshire . The business was after an ATV specialist rather than a general Ag dealer . After some persuasion and Tom checking it wouldn ’ t compromise his strong relationship with Honda he took the Can – Am dealership on . This has allowed him stronger access to the estate and
