RIX Agricultural Open Day Keeps Farmers in the Picture

»»
FARMERS FROM ACROSS East Yorkshire gathered at Driffield Showground on Wednesday, to hear the latest industry news from a range of expert speakers put on by local, family owned fuel supplier, Rix Petroleum.
Farmer and NFU board Guy Poskitt; Mark Todd, UK Wholesale Business Manager from global Energy Company Phillips 66, and; Julia Mansfield, technical manager of Exocet, addressed the audience at the Rix Pavilion, as part of Rix Petroleum’ s first ever Agricultural Open Day.
Other speakers included Duncan Lambert, director of Rix Petroleum, and Mike Philips, technical and strategic business manager at Q8 Oils.
Mr Lambert, who also compered the event, said Rix had decided to launch its Agricultural Open Day after being asked many times to host an event for the farming community.
After the success of the open day, it is likely the company will make it an annual event.
He said:“ We have a close relationship with the farming community, particularly in our
heartland of East Yorkshire, and we have often been asked if we can put on an event that will bring them together.
“ The Agricultural Open Day aimed at doing just that. Those attending got to hear the latest news and information about the industry from experts in their field. They also got a chance to meet with some of our suppliers to learn more about what they do, and enjoy breakfast and lunch on us as well.”
The audience heard about the latest innovations in fuel additives and what to look for in purchasing lubricants. Mark
Todd gave an overview of the Phillips 66’ s Humber refinery, where Rix draws its fuel, and Guy Poskitt closed the event with a look at UK farming, post- Brexit.
Mr Lambert said:“ We had some interesting and thoughtprovoking talks, so hopefully everyone went away feeling a little bit more informed. It was great to see so many of the local farming community turning out to support the Agricultural Open Day, and we hope that it will go from strength to strength in the future.”
