I recently met up with Alistair Whitby , Lloyd Ltd Bishop Auckland ’ s Dealer Principal , to see the new building for myself as well as to learn more about the company ’ s ethos and the plans behind this investment . My first question to Alistair was : why a development of this size ? “ This should future-proof Lloyd Ltd at Bishop Auckland for the next fifty-plus years ,” he said , “ although with the speed of change in agriculture , it ’ s hard to plan for the future . Sadly I don ’ t have a crystal ball ! What really sets Lloyd Ltd apart , though , is that we have never stood still .
The old depot
The company may have started as one tractor dealership , but the scope of our business has extended over the years into related sectors , so we are truly a one-stop shop for any machinery sales , service or parts requirements . The expertise and knowledge we have is transferrable across a variety of products and with investment in state-of-the-art workshops and our staff ’ s skills , as well as representing some of the world ’ s leading machinery brands , we feel confident that we
can continue to grow without losing the family-run , personal approach which our customers really value .”
There is no doubting the company ’ s success when you see the new branch - I have to say the building is awesome . As you approach the frontage you are struck with that wow factor . Walking through the front door you are immediately impressed with the quality of finish , spacious showroom , with accessories , reception area , service and parts counter , and
the extensive bank of offices to house all the various sides of the business . Alistair showed me upstairs where there is an array of offices for meetings and seminars , along with excellent quality staff facilities . This new building has clearly considered both customers and staff , giving both a pleasant , clean environment in which to work and conduct business . Downstairs there is an extensive Parts Department run by Parts Manager David Greedy who was promoted to this role when Lloyd Ltd ’ s sister
company Construction Plant Suppliers moved over from their site in Thornaby . Alistair observed : “ The new building gave us an opportune time to move CP over to join us and it has proved to have made a real difference already . Ironically , being thrown into lockdown so soon after the move – when we were still working to keep our farming customers going , albeit with a reduced staff – meant that everyone had to get stuck in
