46 RUSSELLS HALLMARK
This is a far cry from the old depot where
you struggled to get a combine in. There
is a separate storage area – all under
cover – this is a massive bonus as at the
old depot it was virtually one man’s sole
job to manoeuvre machinery back and
forth all day; they also had 10,000 square
feet of rented storage off-site.
The parts department is four or five
times larger than before, with an immense
capacity for all manner of parts large and
small, accessories and clothing are all
in the state-of-the-art showroom at the
front, next to modern comfortable offices
for everyone with full kitchen facilities
etc.
On the second floor, there is more
storage and opportunity for expansion.
Also upstairs, and looking out on the
showroom area, is an enviable training
and conference room with fully integrated
IT and conference facilities, including its
own kitchen and catering area. You can
comfortably seat sixty people in it. This
will be a big cost saving for Russell’s as
they can do all their training in-house now.
The room is ideal for seminars, launches,
meetings etc. It is available for outside
hire as well.
Cubley represents Russell’s biggest
investment to date and brings all their
depots up to the same standard. It also
allows them to expand their ground
care business and vehicle sales which

is happening across the group. Cubley
depot also enjoys the tightest of modern
security and CCTV equipment which locks
the site down when required.
Jim’s passion is to deliver the same
excellence of service and customer care
that made the old Cubley so successful.
There is great enthusiasm from the manu-
facturers for the new Cubley.
With the increased size and capacity
that Cubley now has there will be a need
for more staff. With premises like these,
coupled with the Russell ethos of involve-
ment, training and sense of team, I’ve
no doubt there will be many CV’S to sift
through.
I asked Paul about any further plans for
the site, to which he replied with a wry
smile, “We could apply for fishing rights”.
As the Hallmark name was such a strong
one ‘Hallmark’ was not rebranded imme-
diately; three years on, Russell’s have now
done some rebranding and you will see
the big R and H on the Russell site and all
their literature. This is a fitting tribute to
what Hallmark have brought to the party
to build further on the Russell name.
