Flach & Le-Roy Ltd - Crops
& Woodchip Drying Systems
»»Founded in 1993 by Richard Flach
and Owen Le-Roy, the partners have more
than 50 years’ experience in the crop and
woodchip drying and storage business.
Together they have forged the industryleading brand “FLR-CropDrying” which
has become synonymous with product
quality, toughness and resilience - essential
properties in the agriculture industry. Their
speciality is drive-on drying flooring and
box-store ventilation and conditioning
systems manufactured using high-grade
timber together with premium quality
fans, burners and their associated control
equipment.
Based on the near ambient drying
method the “FLR-CropDrying” drying and
storage system is fully automated, having
fans and burners controlled via humidity
sensors in the air duct and exterior fan
house. The system’s drying rate for cereals
is up to half a percent every 24 hours and
the high-volume fans deliver air through
the crop at between 20 and 24 feet per
minute depending on the crop stack height.
Offloading a grain trailer into a Flach &
Le-Roy designed store is both time and
labour saving and the crop needs no
stirring up to a stack height of 12 feet. More
recent application of the FLRCropDrying
drying-floor system is in the preparation of
woodchip for biomass heating systems.
The system typically supports a 200Kw
boiler and heat exchanger drying 40
tonnes of woodchip loaded at 1.5m deep
and reducing moisture content from 40%
to 25% over two or three days. The FLRCropDrying brand is well established in the
UK, Scandinavia and New Zealand and the
Flach & Le-Roy team can be found at the
major agricultural shows as exhibitors and
dedicated providers of essential information
