‘ As we all now know that didn ’ t happen and the lamb price continued increasing . What seemed to have happened was that a lot of farmers probably felt the same as me and got shot of stock earlier . That then led to less fat lambs being about and with the pandemic leading to more people cooking at home demand remained high both here at home and probably around the rest of Europe .’
Carol and Philip are well known for their breeding , work and competitions with sheepdogs . Carol is secretary of the Yorkshire Sheepdog Society and Philip is treasurer .

‘ People know where we are andwhat we do ’ The Yorkshire Sheepdog Society is one of five that make up the Pennine Society , which includes Trawden , Fylde , Holme and North Lancashire .
‘ Ours is a strong society with a good number of active members and Philip is no longer the youngest member ,’ says Carol . ‘ We put on our own sheepdog trials and there are team and individual competitions .’
|
‘ I train my own dogs to work on the farm and use two for the open trials and two for the nursery trials . After working with them I then move them on . People know where we are and what we do .’
Carol has never advertised her dogs other than through running them . Her reputation goes before her and those who buy know that any dog from Carol ’ s tutelage will perform well for them , so long as they look after their dogs in the right manner . Philip also sells sheepdogs in the summer .
