72 MACHINERY JUN/JUL 2019 • farmers-mart.co.uk KNIGHT LIGHTS Knight Farm Machinery is offering boom lighting to all its sprayers to enable users to continue spraying in low light conditions or at night, and so make best use of available spraying windows. THE system – which can be supplied as original equipment or retro-fitted – shines a blue light through the spray pattern, and enables operators to monitor that all noz- zles are always performing efficiently : “Many operators comment on the fact that spraying conditions are often at their best towards the end of the working day and into the early evening, when the wind often drops”, says David Main, Knight’s Marketing Manager. “This system will enable them to make best use of those working windows, while ensuring they retain excellent vision of the entire boom width and can ensure they are doing the best job possible”. The new system uses powerful BlueBeam LED spotlights with 2700 effective lumen to provide operators with full visibility or the spray pattern along the entire length of the boom. The lights are enabled when the tractor lights are illuminated and activated via a switch on the in-cab screen. For sprayers up to 24m wide two lights are fitted to the machine’s back-frame, each illuminating one wing section. For wider booms a second light is fitted half- way along the boom to illuminate the outer section. Sulky UK showcases folding power harrows at Cereals 2019 ‘ The new system uses powerful BlueBeam LED spotlights with 2700 effective lumen to provide operators with full visibility or the spray pattern along the entire length of the boom ’ SULKY UK showcased a six metre folding power harrow at Cereals 2019, as the com- pany known for its combina- tion seed drills and fertiliser spreaders puts increasing emphasis on its cultivation equipment. Recent innovations in the cultivation product line at Sulky Burel have resulted in an enhanced range of power harrows including folding op- tions up to eight metres wide, with unique Sulky features. Cultiline HRW (folding) and HR (rigid) power harrow models feature four rotors per metre, producing high quality seedbeds with no swathes or ridges and, with reduced resistance, save energy con- sumption and fuel. Designed to reduce maintenance to a minimum, each rotor has ta- pered roller bearings, pre-set at the factory, and requires no further adjustment. The high tensile steel gear trough has an especially robust design, lubricated for life in the facto- ry with a double seal. RapidFit tines, introduced in 2017 are standard across the power harrow range and allow removal of individual damaged or worn tines within seconds, using a dual function spanner. Robert Thurkettle, man- aging director of Sulky Burel UK, says “Sulky is known for its quality fertiliser spreaders and seed drills. Its increas- ingly important to create a good seedbed to help crop establishment and, later in the season that can be challeng- ing. “Our range of cultivation equipment, used alone or in conjunction with our seed drills are helping growers reduce time and money spent on multiple passes by getting it right first time. Italian sprayers make debut at Cereals 2019 MAZZOTTI self-propelled sprayers will be making their UK show debut under the John Deere banner at Cereals 2019 in Boothby Graffoe, Lincolnshire in June. Visitors to the John Deere stand (631) will see a 175hp MAF 3580 3750-litre capacity model with 24m boom on static display alongside a 300hp MAF 6240 6600-litre capacity machine with 36m boom, which will also be demonstrated in the Syngenta Sprays & Sprayers Arena. John Deere bought Mazzot- ti, a privately-owned sprayer manufacturer based in Ravenna, Italy, in summer 2017. Founded in 1948, the family owned busi- ness is known for its innovation and expertise, particularly with self-propelled sprayers sold primarily in southern Europe for specialist crop production, plus skid units for other manufactur- ers. The sprayers being shown at the Cereals Event are suitable for large-scale arable crop produc- tion and feature John Deere Pow- ertech engines with hydrostatic transmission and two hydraulic pumps, four-wheel drive, four- wheel steer with crab steering and high clearance up to a maximum of 1700mm, depending on the model. The comfortable, high-speci- fication cab features Category 4 operator protection as well as a joystick control, computerised display and diagnostic monitoring system, which also displays imag- es coming from rear and optional front mounted video cameras. Hydropneumatic suspension allows comfortable working and road speeds of up to 20kph and 50kph respectively. Additional features include hy- draulic front and rear wheel mo- tors, hydraulic track adjustment with optional automatic adjust- ment from the cab, easy to access spray controls and stainless steel, variable geometry, self-levelling booms. Both machines can also be equipped with John Deere’s AMS precision farming systems, in- cluding the StarFire 6000 satellite receiver, AutoTrac automatic steering options, GreenStar dis- plays and JDLink wireless commu- nications.
