STAND 44
farmers involved with livestock
such as pig and poultry farms,
rely on a backup power supply
for animal welfare and to
safeguard against mains power
failure. A guaranteed power
supply is critical for most farm-
ers where livestock are totally
dependent on machinery to
deliver vital heating, ventilation
and feeding systems, not to
mention chilling equipment in
milk parlours and cold stores
Prime power is also often need-
ed for applications such as corn
drying and vegetable grading
equipment at harvest time.
Director Richard Ogden says “It
is fundamentally important that
farm businesses have back a up
generator installed as a Contin-
gency plan. If not they potentially
risk losing valuable Livestock and
revenue as a consequence of
mains power tripping out, which
could be catastrophic.”
Yorkshire Generators services
include hire and sales of diesel
and PTO generating equipment,
along with full servicing, mainte-
nance and emergency call out.
They also supply control equip-
ment that automatically turns
generators on when needed and
switches them off when the mains
power has been resumed.
Richard Ogden says “It’s all a
matter of surveying and under-
standing each individual appli-
cation before quantifying the
right amount of power needed
for the job. Every job is different
and therefore the specification
is tailored to suit each custom-
er’s individual requirements.
In fact, in many sectors
insurance underwriters
stipulate that standby
generators are in place as a
pre-requisite of obtaining
indemnity cover.
Such instances of power
failure are increasing as our
weather patterns become even
more unpredictable at a time
when the demand for power
continues to increase”.
For farms that are off grid
and properties in exposed
rural locations, the use of
prime power generators mean
it is possible to have a constant
electricity supply without
going to the significant expense
of having mains electricity
installed.
Yorkshire Generators always
have an extensive range of new
and used generators to choose
from at their Wath depot.
