The Shentons
Kate
wisely
placed him astride a sheepwhere he lasted a good 10
seconds or more - much to the
hilarity of the whole family!
As for the future, the family
have already bought the rundown property at the side of
the farm, which they plan to
renovate, so Mark and Kate like Chris and Debbie - will be
able to live on-site rather than
away from the farm which will
free up more time for them
both.
Kate told me that she
would like to see them make
a lot more from breeding and
showing their pedigree ewes.
With their passion for
quality, Chris and Mark aim
to have one of the best if not
THE best Blonde herds in the
country.
You have to take your hat
off to this family, for having
kept and developed their long
standing farming tradition in
the village. Indeed, when you
step into the field behind the
farm you wouldn’t know there
was urban sprawl only a quarter
of a mile away.
Mark did say, however,
that if a farm of the right
size became available nearby
it would be great to have
everything and everyone in one
place.
Whether this opportunity
arises or not, one thing’s for
sure: they will continue to
prosper through hard work
and determination, and their
passion for farming will, no
doubt, pass on to the fifth
generation. We wish them
well.
