Building a
future and
enjoying the
challenge
»»Nestled in the quiet
village of Hartburn between
Morpeth and Scots Gap, lies
Broomhouse Farm, home to
Julian and Linda Thompson
and their two sons, William and
Edward. In a place this small
you might expect a small farm,
but this is not so here. Julian is
the third generation of farmers
here in Hartburn. His father
purchased the present farm in
1984 and at 70, still helps Julian
in the day to day running.
Originally, the farm was a
relatively modest enterprise,
having sheep, cattle and
about 180 acres; but during
the past 10 years, Julian has
really moved things forward
- as well as meeting his wife,
who used to be a grain buyer
for Grainco. Julian took a
shine to Linda immediately
and admits that he often made
extra calls to Grainco just to
see her! Their two young boys
are already keen on all things
