The family team includes
Richard and Chris as principal
partners with Richard’s daughter,
Pam and her husband, Thomas
Moorhouse (better known as TJ)
as junior partners - along with
Richard’s son, Jon. Richard’s
wife, Jacky runs the accounts, as
well as a holiday cottage that is
a separate business and she is
also a school bus driver. Chris’

wife, Ciara is a full-time teacher.
The family also employs one
other full-time farm man, Mick
Roberts.
Dairy, beef and sheep make
up their farm enterprise today.
They have been in and out of
dairying twice in the past 15
years – firstly owing to Foot
and Mouth in 2001 when they
were taken out as a contiguous
cull; and secondly, when a
combination of losing some
land for a while, an obsolete
milking parlour and the poor
milk price took their toll. The
current trend in the milk price
won’t be helping them much
but they returned to the dairy
sector three years ago. Richard
