VALTRA’S PINK
CAT ON SHOW
IN FINLAND
Valtra’s Unlimited Studio
has created a pink tractor
that is all about “passion”,
this year’s theme among
the Young Farmers of
Finland, an organisation
of MTK (Central Union of
Agricultural Producers and
Forest Owners).
The theme is reflected in
both the interior and exterior
styling of this customised
tractor, which has been
dubbed the “Pink Cat”.
Options and features of
the Pink Cat are designed
together with Young Farmers
representatives and Valtra
Unlimited Studio.
The tractor is a four-cylinder
N163 Direct with stepless
transmission. The specs
include bright pink taping, red
leather upholstery, chrome
headlight surrounds, chrome
exhaust, chrome mounting
rack on the roof, chrome
grill guard, alpine horns on
the roof, LED auxiliary work
lights, breath alcohol ignition
interlock, a top-end stereo
and DVD player, a stainless
steel mirror on the ceiling of
the cab, rim guards made out
of chrome-plated sheet metal,
iPad and an Auto-Guide
readiness system. The tractor
itself boasts 171 horsepower,
700 Nm of torque, a 50
km/h transmission and 160
litre per minute load-sensing
hydraulics.
Pink Cat is appearing
at Young Farmers’ events
throughout Finland this
summer and will visit all
Finnish provinces before
returning to its roots in Central
Finland at the KoneAgria
fair on 11 October. It will
be accompanied at these
events by a customised
trailer featuring a hot tub and
terrace. After the tour the
tractor will be offered for sale
to customers just like any
other demo tractor.
Pink Cat features:
• Pink taping
• Red leather upholstery
• Chrome exhaust, headlight
surrounds and grill guard
• Alpine horns and auxiliary
lights on roof
• Breath alcohol ignition
interlock
• Top-end stereo and DVD
• Stainless steel mirror and
LED lamps on cab ceiling
• Auto-Guide readiness

Lincolnshire stock farmers, Mr and Mrs
David Haynes along with their son,
bale and cart 1,600 round wheat
straw bales – 550/600 tonnes – in a
narrow harvest window to allow the
following crop of oil seed rape to be
planted in ideal soil conditions. Once
the Fenland fields experience rain,
tractor and trailer wheels quickly
cause excessive compaction. Hence
the reason why this self-contained farm unit has invested in the
newest RITCHIE Traileyre 10/20 model to collect and transport the
round bales from field to farm, regularly covering 2 miles of road
work per load.
David quickly spotted the advantages the 10/20 Traileyre would
offer. Lifting and loading bales while on the move, the Traileyre
does away with the need for a second tractor loader operator,
with the unit transporting and unloading bales all from the one
tractor seat.
David particularly tries to bale the round straw bales tight and
heavy to reduce transport costs and time, averaging 3 bales to a
tonne – 7 tonnes to a load. With its twin axles and floatation tyres
to maintain stability and reduce soil compaction, experience has
shown that the Traileyre is mechanically well made and strong
enabling David to work on through the night, safely loading and
delivering straw bales on his own.
“The new 10/20 Traileyre is bigger and faster than our older
RITCHIE 6/12 model,” says David, “but it still works well and I’m
loathed to part with it. So we use the smaller Traileyre to collect
bales closer to home if needed.”
