A chartered Town Planner
who set up his own
business after almost
four decades working
in the public and private
sector, recently moved into
new offices to be closer
to his clients and other
partnership businesses
including architects with
whom he has a strong
working relationship.
Mark Newby Dip T&RP;
MRTPI, set up Yew Tree
Associates as a land, town
planning and development
consultancy, initially ran the
practice from his home in
Terrington near York, utilising
his extensive experience in
all aspects of land purchase,
town planning development
and regeneration across North
Yorkshire.

From the start, Mark worked
closely with Stephenson’s
Estate Agents acting for
clients with land for sale
with a view to development
opportunities. That was three
years ago. So when premises
became available adjacent to
the Stephenson’s offices at
York Auction Centre, Murton,
he quickly snapped up the
opportunity and as a result, has
obtained several new clients,
thanks to the business links and
convenient location.
“The business was expanding
so this presented me with a
perfect opportunity,” said Mark,
who is the founder and director
of Yew Tree Associates, a
chartered Town Planner and
a member of the Royal Town
Planning Institute.
He worked in senior positions
in North Yorkshire for local
authorities including Ryedale,
Hambleton, Humberside and
Selby for 17 years and also
has extensive experience in
the private sector, having held
senior posts with national
house builders such as Taylor
Wimpey, Lovell Partnerships,
Persimmon Homes and David
Wilson Homes, which gives
him a particular insight into
the acquisition of land for
housing development and
regeneration.
Mark also works with a firm
of architects PDP, based
at Stamford Bridge, who
specialise in architecture,
design and landscaping.
