“ We are keen to work with more farmers on a contract farming basis . We see that as a good way of being able to plan a bit better . It gives you a bit more control over what you do than purely agricultural contracting because you are managing the situation yourself .
“ We have a great relationship with Rudding Park Estate where we contract farm across 400-500 acres . Winter wheats there are Gleam and Cranium , which we are trying this year . The land varies from some nice loamy stuff to wet heavy land .
“ Our main areas of agricultural contracting are combining , spraying and drilling . In total we are currently combining around 2500 acres and drilling 2500 acres . We will combine and drill for around 15-20 customers per year .
“ We have two drills - a 6-metre Weaving direct drill and 4-metre combination drill and we spray high volume liquid fertiliser for around 40 customers . We do a lot of spraying .
Direct drilling , min-till and precision farming have influenced the brothers ’ thinking , but this has not necessarily purely been about their feelings over looking after the soil but getting the jobs done quicker and more efficiently .
