UK by Farmstar customer Anna ’ s Happy Trotter ’ s from Howden . Farmstar are always keen to support their customers whenever possible . This was a good choice as I have sampled the joys of Anna ’ s great catering previously . The sandwich queue at both tables was a continuous one . They brought two large pigs along which meant everyone could have their fill and it is amazing how many sandwiches a farmer can carry in one hand ! There was some leftover which didn ’ t go to waste and Charlotte ensured that this was donated to a local homeless shelter at the end of the Open Day .
As it was a hectic day with everyone at Farmstar busy with Farmers in one way or another . I met up a couple of weeks later with Andrew and Gaynor Waddington , Andrew Tuke , new Financial Controller and Charlotte McFarland to talk in more detail about the show but in particular about Farmstar ’ s development during the past 2 years .
Farmstar have always had an eye on the future and really pushing forward which was a huge task for Andrew Waddington to oversee as well as driving the sales side . Andrew ’ s wife Gaynor assisted in the change process considerably when she came on board full time to help with the Marketing and Operations side of the company . The recent additions to Andrew and Tom on the Senior Team of Gaynor , Sam Davies last year as the General Manager and of Andrew Tuke and really enabled Andrew to realise his wish to develop the business for the short and long term , allowing his team to orchestrate key developments whilst he continues to drive the sales side .
Sam , Gaynor and Andy have streamlined a lot of the process ’ s at Farmstar , generating strong cost savings which in turn they have been ploughed into the business , thus enhancing maximum customer and staff experience .
Gaynor has implemented a more corporate style staffing structure with a two-fold objective of retaining the right staff for the long term as well as the important need to attract quality new , younger people into the business . A new , enhanced holiday scheme has been implemented this year with additional holidays for longer service . Work life balance is a focal point as everyone knows how hard working the Ag sector is and the last thing wanted is staff to suffer “ Burnout ”. Sam , Andy and Tom have put in place a bonus scheme based on sales and productivity which has been well received in Sales , Service and Parts . A full Farmstar company wide bonus scheme was also announce in January which will benefit everyone in the business when overall targets are met .
As well as the new senior management structure , a new Group Parts Manager , Faye Garner has been appointed this year who brings a wealth of experience from the Agricultural industry and is already making her presence known around all four depots at Marr , Brigg , Newark and Marr . Farmstar have also recruited three new Service Managers over the last few months to join Matt Pykett at Newark Service Manager .
All this development is underpinned by a newly devised three and five year plan that has been universally agreed by Andrew Waddington and his management team . There is also a vision and mission statement now in place which
