I spoke to Richard after the show he was highly delighted , attendance numbers were a whopping 15,000 ! This is the highest attendance since the show began in 2014 . Given these numbers it does pose the question that has been toyed with in the past – should it move to a two-day show ? Richard was not to be drawn on this but agreed the question needed further consideration . However we both agreed that the huge attendance was in part due to the relaxing of COVID restrictions and the desire for face to face contact again . The other significant bonus was the great British weather . The Sun was out for most of the day accompanied by relatively warm temperatures for this time of year , undoubtably that also had a positive effect on numbers .
As I walked around the show it was more difficult than usual to speak to people as so many stands were constantly busy . The atmosphere and Buzz was noticeable . Farmers commented to me how much easier access seemed to be this year .
Speaking to exhibitors many had had a good day , Bainbridge Engineering who are here every year had a very busy day both people on the stand and deals done !
The team at Farmstar had a very busy day on their stand , providing gallons of soup for their visitors . The team were very busy with customers , unfortunately MD Andrew Waddington couldn ’ t be
there due to the dreaded COVID ! He is fully back in the pink now .
I spoke to a couple of the Carrs Billington team who were very impressed at how many people had come to see them .
I tried all day to speak with Jonathan at Eric Townend , to no avail he was occupied the whole day !
Leeds Welding Company were very generous with their giveaways including bottles of beer which were happily scooped up by the young farmers in record time .
Farmers are keen to get back to shows and meeting up with friends and colleagues after the past two years . What a great start to the Agricultural year .
