Wednesday 2nd February 2022 heralded the return of YAMS , one of the key events in the agricultural calendar .
THE lead up to the show had been a trying time for organiser Richard Tasker and his team . The pandemic had cast a veil of uncertainty around the event with the ever changing restrictions , peoples uncertainty and the prospect of insuring against cancellation and adhering to COVID guidelines . It was a close-run thing as to cancel or not .
However , with the various positive developments occurring Richard took the bold decision to “ Crack on ” and hope for the best .

‘ farmers began arriving from first light ’

Wise decision indeed , the whole show came together in record time with exhibitors coming from around the country , including many new ones . The range of machinery , equipment and other services exhibiting is one of the reasons farmers come year after year to YAMS , not only to chat and look but also to buy . Exhibitors make a huge effort with their stands which just ups the quality of the whole event . As usual there were various stand awards .
The best stand awards winners from the Show are as follows :
• Best pre-show publicity Yorkshire & Humber Ltd
• Best outdoor stand Innovate Agri Ltd
• Highly commended outdoor stands Henderson Agri Services & JC Machinery
• Best indoor stand Bourgault Tillage Tools UK Ltd
• High commended indoor stands Apex Fluid Power Ltd and Yorkshire Agricultural Society .
Richard and his team were more than amply rewarded for their hard work and preparations . Firstly , it was definitely a record attendance , farmers began arriving from first light , as the morning progressed you could see all the avenues were busy with people . The car parks were full , park and ride busses led a continuous procession and catering stands were in constant demand . Exhibitors didn ’ t had less catering facilities this year due to COVID regs , this did put some added pressure on the site catering .
