and he continues to take on more and more , there are only so many hours in a day , Therefore , in order to free up more time for business development and to spread the day-to-day load , it was time make changes in the management structure . So , joining Andrew and the team as Farmstar General Manager is Sam Davies . Sam has a vast industry knowledge and to coin a phrase , “ He was made in Marr ”. Yes , Sam worked for Farmstar for 14 years before spending five years at Case IH . Sam is very process driven and is already bringing more structure to things and has even put a couple of things in place that have created more time for Andrew , and as Andrew said to me , made him more efficient .

Further enhancing the management team was the appointment of Financial Director Neil Muffitt , who has some 25 years ’ experience at board room level . He has made considerable impact improving the way Farmstar do business , allowing them to establish better financial processes , enabling even greater value to be delivered to customers .

An exciting development for 2021 is the Newark depot , which will be a fully focussed and branded Kubota dealership from March , with the addition of construction equipment and

the expansion of the groundcare side complementing the already fast-growing agricultural side . New salespeople have been recruited to champion the enhanced range . This will be one of the north ’ s “ Go To ” Kubota dealers . This will bring Kubota up to the success levels of the Case IH depots at Marr , Brigg and Market Weighton .

Normally in this issue of Farmers Mart we carry a review of Farmstar ’ s popular annual open day , but this year , due to the pandemic , the on-site open day , like many other events and open days across the country , has had to be cancelled .

However , Farmstar , far from just accepting the situation , have broken new ground . Spearheaded and organised by Gaynor Waddington , Operations & HR ( and Head of Marketing ), they created and organised a Virtual Online Event week - something unique , certainly in the north , if not in the country . The open week ran from the 18th to 22nd January and was hosted on their Facebook channel .
